Russell Haythorn is an American award-winning Journalist currently working at Denver 7 (KMGH-TV) since November 2005 as a general assignments reporter. He was honored with a National Associated Press award for his coverage of the deadly EF5 tornado in Moore, Oklahoma in May 2013.
Russell went to Colorado State University graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Technical Journalism in 1998. Before that, he attended Eaton High School from 1990 to 1994. In addition, Haythorn worked as a reporter for WFMY-TV, Greensboro, North Carolina from 2003 to 2005 before joining KMGH-TV, Denver 7.
Haythorn was also a reporter at KCBD-TV from 2000 to 2003 and KGWN-TV from 1998 to 2000. Russell has also worked for stations in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Lubbock, Texas, and Greensboro. He has covered various prime stories since he joined the Denver 7 team like the September 2013 Colorado floods, Waldo Canyon Fire, and the Black Forest Fire.
