Sera Congi Biography
Sera Congi is a renowned American journalist currently working as a news reporter at WCVB, in Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to joining the network, Sera worked as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor for almost 10 years at WBZ News.
Congi started her journalism career at CBS News as a Desk Assistant for the northeast Bureau in New York City as well as the newsmagazine show Eye to Eye with Connie Chung. She has covered some of the biggest stories in Boston including the Marathon Bombings, the Watertown Manhunt, the Whitey Bulger Trial, and the Market Basket Stalemate. In addition, she covered the shootings in Newtown, Connecticut, and several Presidential primaries in New Hampshire.
Sera was also featured in an episode of ABC News’s 20/20 Can Words Kill?” which took a comprehensive approach to the controversial texting suicide case in Massachusetts. Notably, she was offered a special opportunity to speak with fellow journalists in China in 2017. As a team player at the University of Missouri, Sera gave several presentations about television reporting to journalism at two broadcast stations in Jinan, China.
Prior to joining WCVB 5 in 2014, Congi anchored the award-winning 6 and 11 PM newscasts at WCAX-TV in Burlington, Vermont. Furthermore, she won several awards for her performance as the news team’s medical reporter, most notably investigating a hospital corruption scheme known as ‘Burlington’s Big Dig’. She receives an Edward R. Murrow award for her work on Vermont Governor Howard Dean’s presidential run coverage.
