Sharifa Jackson Biography
Sharifa Jackson is an American journalist who currently works as a reporter at FOX4. Additionally, she joined the station in April 2019. Jackson attended Columbus State University where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s in Mass Media Communications, and a minor in English Professional Writing. She was also inducted into the national communications honor society, Lambda Pi Eta in 2014.
Following her graduation, she started her career as a journalist in Columbus, where she worked behind the scenes as a production assistant and learned all aspects of news. Most notably, her first on-air opportunity as a reporter was in Dothan, Alabama where she started out shooing and editing her own stories.
Prior to coming to Kansas City, she worked as a reporter and anchor for WTVM and WXTX, the ABC and FOX affiliates in Columbus, Georgia. Jackson spent two years in the market covering national news, and some of the biggest stories of the community. During her time in Columbus, she covered the devastating tornadoes in East Alabama killing 23 people.
She was also selected by the Georgia Department of Corrections as a media witness to one of Georgia’s only executions in 2018 and covered a brutal triple homicide case killing three family members from beginning to end. Her stories have been featured on ABC, Good Morning America, CNN, and The Weather Channel.
In April of 2019, Sharifa joined FOX4 as a reporter and had been working there ever since. This renowned journalist is also an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists, and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Incorporated.
