Sharla McBride is an American journalist who is currently working as a sports anchor, reporter, and Fill-In News Anchor at WUSA-TV, the CBS affiliate in Washington DC. Additionally, she joined the station in March 2020. Growing up in Texas, she attended and graduated from a local high school. She then joined the University of Georgia where she graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in international affairs.
After she graduated, she got her first job as a sports reporter at KTXS-TV in Texas. There she covered high school and college sports. She however left the station a year later. After leaving the station she relocated to Philadelphia. Here she was hired as a sports anchor at NBC Sports. She anchored the 6 and 10 pm sports weeknight. However, in 2013, she left the station to join WNEP-TV. She was hired as a sports anchor and reporter for seven years. At this station, she covered MLB, NFL, AHL, Penna State, local high school, and college sports.
In 2015, she was reassigned as the station’s evening anchor. McBride co-anchored the 6, 7, 10, and 11 pm newscasts during the weekdays. She however left the station after anchoring for five years. It was after this that she joined her current station in March 2020. She has been working at WUSA-TV as a sports anchor ever since.
