Shawn Yancy Biography
Shawn Yancy is an American Emmy Award-winning journalist currently working as an evening anchor at NBC 4 News Channel based in Washington, District of Columbia. Despite serving as an anchor, she also contributes as a special report reporter. Yancy joined the station’s team in January of 2021.
Previously, Shawn worked at WTTG-TV, Fox 5 News based in Washington as a news anchor. She co-anchored the 6, 6.30, 8, 10, and 11 p.m. weekday newscasts at the station. Yancy joined the station in September of 2001 and left in September 2020.
Moreover, Yancy is the owner of The Bangle, an online jewelry and accessories boutique. She opened the shop in November 2012. Shawn kicked off her career as a journalist at WTAE Hearst Pittsburgh as a news anchor and reporter from 1996 until she left the station in August 2001.
Yancy has won several awards, such as the Edward R. Murrow Award in 2007 for her investigative series on asbestos at the National Institutes of Health. She also received an Emmy Award for Outstanding News Anchor in 2006.
