Simone Eli is an American journalist who presently works as a sports anchor and reporter for CBS 42 since 2017. Eli brings nearly a decade of experience in the sports television industry to CBS 42. Simone was born and brought up in Genoa, Ohio. She earned her Master of Education in Sports Administration and Bachelor of Science in Journalism while playing D-1 basketball at Bowling Green State University.
Simone was the Weekend Sports Anchor at KPRC 2 (NBC) in Houston, Texas, before moving to Birmingham. She spent most of her time at KPRC covering professional sports, college football, and high school football.
Simone is no stranger to the state of Alabama. She most recently co-hosted 95.3 The Bear’s morning show in Tuscaloosa. In addition, Eli served as a Sports Director for WALA FOX10 News in Mobile from 2013 to 2014, where she covered Auburn in the BCS National Championship Game.
Simone began her career in broadcasting as a TV play-by-play announcer, color analyst, and reporter for Buckeye Cable Sports Network, where she covered a range of sports. Eli became Sports Director of BG24 News, the university’s campus television station, shortly after starting at BGSU. She was in charge of the role for two years before joining BCSN.
Moreover, Eli was a member of the BGSU Women’s Division 1 basketball team. The Falcons won three Mid-American Conference Championships during her tenure, in 2010, 2011, and 2012. She and her teammates qualified for two NCAA Tournaments and appeared in two WNIT Tournaments.
