Sindhu Vee (born Sindhu Vankatanarayanan) is an Indian actress and stand-up comedian who currently lives and performs in the United Kingdom under the name Sindhu Vee. As an actress, she starred as Mrs. Phelps in the 2022 Netflix adaptation of Matilda the Musical.
Born in New Delhi, India, she studied at the University of Delhi. Later on, she attended the University of Oxford, the University of Chicago, and McGill University. Before her breakthrough, she worked in banking as a “high-flying bonds tradeswoman” in London.
Vee started performing stand-up comedy in 2012 and has since performed on stage in the UK, India, and the United States. She even appeared at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe each year between 2013 and 2017. In addition, she was nominated for the BBC New Comedy Award in 2016 and was second in the 2017 Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year.
