Steve Levy is an American journalist who is currently serving as a sportscaster at ESPN. He is famous for his work broadcasting college football Monday Night Football, and National Hockey League. Born in New York, he attended John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore. Later on, he graduated from the State University of New York with a degree in communications and broadcasting in 1987.
Prior to joining ESPN, Levy had worked in radio and television stations in the United States, He has worked for WFAN, MSG Network, WCBS-TV, WABC-AM, and WNBC-AM. Switching to his career at ESPN, Levy has been part of the ESPN family since August 1, 1993. He works on SportsCenter at ESPN and hosts late night edition on Monday night during NFL season.
In addition, he covered NHL regular season and playoff games before the network lost the rights to televise the league’s games. Levy also worked as a fill-in play-by-play commentator for Wednesday Nigh Baseball and serves as ESPN’s lead play-by-play announcer for the XFL in 2020.
Besides his journalism career, he also has a brief career as an actor, He appeared in the 2007 film The Game Plan which stars Dwayne Johnson, Madison Pitts, and Kyra Sedgwick in the title role. He went on to appear in the 2012 film, Parental Guidance.
