Sunny Hostin, born as Asunción Cummings, is an American lawyer, social commentator, columnist, and multi-platform journalist. Hostin works for ABC News as its senior legal correspondent and analyst. Previously, she served as a commentator for other channels such as Fox News, Court TV, and CNN.
Born and raised in New York City, United States. Sunny attended the all-girls Dominican Academy, where graduated at. Soon after graduating from high school, she enrolled at Binghamton University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English and Rhetoric. She also holds a Juris Doctor from Notre Dame Law School. Hostin started earning by working as a legal clerk for Robert M. Bell, the retired Chief Judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals. Her journalism career began at Court TV where she worked as a television analyst. Thereafter, Sunny appeared on Fox News’s “The O’Reilly Factor,” where she regularly debated with Megyn Kelly and Bill O’Reilly. In 2007, she joined CNN as a legal analyst for “American Morning.” She also began appearing frequently as a guest contributor on ABC’s talk show, “The View,” in 2014. That same year, she appeared as a contestant on the Mother’s Day edition of Food Network’s Chopped. However, Sunny was eliminated in the final round but returned the next year for the Amateurs Redemption episode, which she also did not win.
In March 2016, Hostin joined ABC News as Senior Legal Correspondent and Analyst. later on, she became a permanent co-host of The View beginning the show’s twentieth season, The following year, Hostin made a cameo appearance as herself in the comedy film Girls Trip. In addition, she served as host and executive producer of Investigation Discovery’s six-episode documentary series, “Truth About Murder With Sunny Hostin,” traveling to various parts of the U.S. to dive into the country’s most infamous homicides.
