Suzanne Malveaux is an award-winning television journalist currently working as CNN’s national correspondent, covering politics, national news, culture, and international events. Previously, Malveaux co-anchored CNN’s Around The World and editions of CNN Newsroom. In addition, she has also served as a CNN White House Correspondent and primary substitute to Wolf Blitzer on The Situation Room.

On the other hand, her mother is a retired schoolteacher.

Suzanne has three siblings, namely: Suzette M. Malveaux (her twin sister and associate professor at the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America), Courtney M. President Obama didn’t hire LGBT staffers, he hired experienced individuals who happen to be LGBT,” she says. “Serving and working for President Obama where you can be openly gay has been an amazing honor. It felt incredible to be a part of an administration that prioritizes LGBT issues”.

Suzanne began her career as a general assignment reporter for WRC-TV, WFXT-TV, and the New England Cable News based in Boston. She then headed to work as a correspondent for NBC News based in Chicago and Washington, D.C. Working for the station, she traveled through the country covering breaking news for MSNBC.
In May 2002, Suzanne joined CNN where she notably reported the retirement of Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, the plea deal of lobbyist Jack Abramoff, and White House personal changes.
Later in September 2005, she returned to her hometown of New Orleans, reporting on the devastation and recovery following Hurricane Katrina. She was also part of the team that earned CNN a Peabody Award for its Katrina reporting.
Suzanne was recognized by Columbia University’s Graduate School for her coverage of then-Senator Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. This was through a 90-minute craft on Senator Barack Obama. She later served as a panelist questioning the candidates in the Democratic Presidential Primary Debate in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In September 2011, she accompanied the U.S troops in Afghanistan for the 10th anniversary of 9/11 where she led breaking news coverage of the Taliban’s terrorist attack on the U.S Embassy there.
