He also gained national recognition and fame for playing Jimmy Cooper’s role in a popular American TV series called The O.C. In 1997, Tate even gained fame for voicing the role of Hercules the titular character in a Disney animated film called Hercules. His other famous roles include Love Potion No.9 (1992), Good Night and Good Luck, Friends, and Argo. Donovan has won various awards like a Primetime Emmy award and received the Independent Spirit award nomination for his work in a Non-Fiction reality TV series.

Donovan was born and brought up in Tenafly, New Jersey. He grew up as the youngest child in a family of six kids. Tate also grew up as the son of a famous American surgeon based in New Jersey. He attended and graduated from the Dwight-Englewood School based in Englewood, New Jersey.
