Tony McEwing Biography
Tony McEwing is an American award-winning Journalist currently serving at FOX11 as the anchor of Good Day LA on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. McEwing anchors alongside Araksya Karapetyan. He joined the KTTV FOX11 team in 1993.
Tony McEwing Education
McEwing enrolled at Northwestern University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1978 and later joined the School of Law. Tony also earned a Master’s degree in editorial broadcasting from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

In the summer of 1980, McEwing worked as a reporter for The News-Sun, the largest daily newspaper in suburban Lake County, where he covered commerce and industry. As an actor and writer, Tony is famous for Big Momma’s House, Leland’s The United States, and Songs of Our Success.
He worked at KXTV (the CBS affiliate in Sacramento) for 12 years, anchoring morning and noon newscasts. Tony has covered the Rodney King trial and the civil upheaval in the Southland in great detail. He worked in Washington, D.C. before joining KXTV. From 1980 to 1981, Tony worked as a correspondent for WDSU, an NBC affiliate in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Tony joined KTTV FOX 11 in 1993 to anchor Fox 11 Morning News, and from April 1994 to April 1995, he also co-anchored Good Day LA. He received Emmy Awards for his half-hour specials “Songs of Our Progress.” in 2001 and 2003. In 1997, he filed a three-part report on the Los Angeles Mission’s year-long recovery program, which received an Emmy Award nomination for the Los Angeles region.
These reports were ultimately collected into Project of Hope, a half-hour news show. They earned the National Iris Award for Best Current Affairs, the Golden Mike Award for Best Documentary, and the National Emmy Award for Best Documentary in 1998.
During his stint at Fox11, Tony has received seven Emmy awards as of 2018.
