Tony Shin Biography
Tony Shin is an Emmy Award-winning American journalist who currently works as the NBC 4 Inland Empire Bureau Chief, covering stories for NBC4 News at 11 a.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
Shin joined the station’s team in 2013 as a general assignment reporter. He is an Emmy award-winning reporter who has covered various notable stories with national reach, including the 2015 San Bernardino terrorist attack and the capture of Christopher Dorner, in which he gave numerous live reports for NBC stations across the country. Moreover, he was recognized for securing an exclusive interview with one of the injured victims of a deadly tour bus accident in San Bernardino in 2013.
Tony has also received numerous Emmy Awards for his work in the areas of breaking news, investigative reporting, general assignment reporting, on-camera talent, and team coverage. He’s also won ten Golden Mike Awards, one of which was for writing.

He spent nearly ten years as a general assignment reporter for NBC’s San Diego affiliate, KNSD-TV, before joining NBC 4. He began his broadcasting career with KTVN-TV in Reno, then spent two years reporting for WAGA-TV in Atlanta.
Shin is also passionate about giving back to the community, and he volunteers his time emceeing events such as the CASA of San Bernardino County’s Care for Kids Run/Walk and the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley’s Walk for the Animals, among others.
Shin was born in Seoul, South Korea, but grew up in Southern California, where he assisted his family in running various modest enterprises. He spends his free time on the golf course, watching sports on TV, or eating Korean food. Tony also enjoys spending time at the beach with his wife and two sons, soaking up the sun.
He earned a Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Nevada.
