Carson Daly Biography
Carson Daly is a TV host, radio personality, producer, and television personality from the United States. Daly was a VJ on MTV’s Total Request Live prior to 2003, and a DJ for the 106.7 KROQ-FM radio station located in Southern California. He is a Santa Monica High School alumnus, and he was a member of the golf and drama team at the school. He once wanted to be a priest.
Then Carson studied theology at Loyola Marymount University but left it to pursue a career in his favorite golf sports within a year. Daly started his radio career at College of the Desert and as an intern at the former KCMJ FM (now KKUU) under the name “Kid Carson”. He also interned with Jimmy Kimmel on the radio.
In 2002, Carson joined NBC where he began hosting and producing the late-night talk show Last Call with Carson Daily. He occasionally hosted special event programming for NBC, such as the Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks show, and executive produced New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly from Times Square beginning in 2003.
Since then, Daly has been involved in more prominent roles at NBC, such as becoming a host for its reality music competition The Voice in 2011. He also joined NBC’s morning show Today as a social media correspondent in 2013, and with his role increasing in subsequent years becoming a co-host.
Carson co-hosts a weekly top 30 countdown show The Daily Download with Carson Daly is produced by Entercom and syndicated through Westwood One. The program broadcasts on Saturday and Sunday mornings in a 3-4 hour edition on CHR/AC radio stations.

Carson started his broadcasting career at KOME radio station in San Jose, California. He was then given the 6-10 PM time slot at KOME’s sister station KRQQ in Los Angeles. During his service at KRQQ, MTV hired Carson to serve as a VJ during MTV’s summer beach house programming called “Motel California.”
At the end of the show, MTV hired him as a permanent VJ, a position that required him to relocate to New York. It was in New York where Daly began hosting MTV Live.
Between 1998 and 2003, Daly hosted MTV’s TRL, a show born from two shows, “Total Request” and “MTV Live” both hosted by Daly. His role in the program included introducing the top 10 videos of the day and interviewing celebrity guests. In 2002, the Last Call with Carson Daly debuted, a shot that shot on the same set as Saturday Night Live until 2005 when it moved to Los Angeles.
In 2011, Carson began hosting and executive-producing NBC’s reality music competition The Voice. His duties as host entail watching blind auditions alongside the contestant’s family members. As a producer of the program, Daly has won four Emmy Awards for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program, first in 2013 and again in 2015, 2016, and 2017.
Carson appeared in a brief but pivotal role in the first episode of My Name is Earl. On his hospital bed after being hit by a car, Earl learns about Karma from watching an episode of the Last Call with Carson Daly where Daly claims that his success is a direct result of doing good things for other people.
He joined NBC in 2002 and came to the limelight with his show ‘Last Call with Carson Daly’. Daly co-produced ‘New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly’ from Times Square in 2003.
