Kirsty Wark Biography
Kirsty Wark is a famous British journalist, newsreader, and television presenter, well known for fronting BBC Two’s news and current affairs programmes Newsnight since 1993, and its weekly arts spin-off Newsnight Review (later The Review Show) from 2002-to 2014.
Wark joined BBC in 1976as a graduate researcher for BBC Radio Scotland, a year later, she was promoted to producer of Morning Scotland and the current affairs programme. In 1982, Wark changed to television, producing Reporting Scotland and the lunchtime political programme, Agenda, and the current affairs series Current Account.
In addition, she moved into presenting, Seven Days, fronting Reporting Scotland, Left, Right and Centre, and Scottish Questions coverage for BBC Scotland. Later on, Wark shifted to network television as part of the Breakfast Time presenting team. In 1988, Wark was among the first reporters to cover the Lockerbie disaster. In 1990, Wark demonstrated her exclusive line of questioning in an interview with Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
From 1990-to 1993, Wark was a presenter of The Late Show and the heritage programme, One Foot in the Past on the BBC2 arts programme. Furthermore, In 1999, Kirsty presented her own interview programme, The Kirsty Wark Show. Kirsty has been a presenter on the BBC programme Newsnight since 1993.

In 2018, the Russia Today journalist Margarita Simonyan, who interviewed the two Russian suspects of the poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Skripal put an end to an interview with Kirsty. It happened after Wark challenged “the manner of the interview”. Since 2020, Wark has presented the BBC Radio 4 series “The Reunion”. Additionally, on occasion, presented “Start the Week” on BBC Radio 4.
