Tamara Johnson-George famously known as Taj is an American singer and rapper famous as one-third of the R&B singing group Sisters with Voices. She is also known for having competed on the eighteenth season of Survivor, Survivor: Tocantins.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, she attended a high school in her hometown and graduated with honors. She then attended Baruch College where she studied accounting. Unfortunately, she never finished her studies as she left to join Sisters With Voices while still studying.
She embarked on her studies in 2002 joined Belmont University and graduated earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in May 2014. Later in 2007, she wrote the book Player HateHER: How to Avoid the Beat Down and Live in a Drama-Free World. She co-wrote the book with Katerina Chambers.
Tamara was recruited by Charyl “Coko” Gamble to join SWV. At the time she was so shy that she auditioned with the light off. Unfortunately, after years of working together, SWV officially disbanded in 1998. After this, she signed to a two-year contract with the Ford Modeling Agency.
After the contract came to an end, she began dating Eddie George. She contributed to the anthology Souls of My Sisters: Black Women Break Their Silence, Tell Their Stories and Heal Their Spirits, published in 2000. Later on, she was recruited to Survivors, and by the end of the season, she was one of the strongest competitors.
