Jim Cantore is a famous American meteorologist and journalist well recognized for working as an on-air weather anchor for The Weather Channel. He has been working for TWC since 2008 beginning as a field reporter. Jim is known for breaking down complex weather updates and events into comprehensive weather reports for the citizens of America. Cantore is also famous for covering weather reports live from the location of weather events such as Hurricane Floyd, and Hurricane Katrina among others. Previously, he worked for NBC Universal until his official departure back in 2008.
Cantore was born in Waterbury, Connecticut to a working-class Native American family who relocated to White River Junction, Vermont. He finished his high school studies and earned a very good GPA that took him to college. Jim then joined Lyndon State College where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in meteorology. He then received his AMS seal certificate from Vermont College in 2008.
After graduation, Jim began his career as a reporter for NBC News. He then joined The Weather Channel as an on-air meteorologist. He began working for TWC on a full-time basis in 2008. Jim became one of the best-known on-air meteorologists who was even referred to as the rock star of metrologists by the Nebraska Journal Star.
