Danita Harris is an Emmy award-winning American broadcast journalist known for appearing as the morning news anchor and reporter for WEWS News channel 5 in Cleveland, USA. Previously, Harris spent time working as a correspondent for WJLA News based in Washington DC. He even spent more than a decade playing various roles at WPO Newsneews back in 1997. She is also a former morning news and evening news anchor for other stations in Maryland.
Harris was born and raised in the suburbs of Chester, Pennsylvania by a working-class Afrcan-American family. She grew up as a very active girl who developed a passion for broadcasting from an early age. Danita finished her high school and middle school education in her hometown Chester, Pennsylvania. From there, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and communications from the Universty of Maryland, College Park.
She first began her career as a journalist at s popular Balck Entertainment Television Network called WJLA ABC News 7 in Washington DC. During her time at WJLA News, Harris was honored by the organization of Black Women in Sisterhood for Action due to her incredible work and dedication back in 2006. She then left WJLA news and joined WCPO in Cincinnati to work as a journalist and correspondent. AT WCPO, Danita received three regional Emmy awards for Best Daytime Newscast because of her crossfire news updates and the death of a nine-year-old named Saniyah Nicholson. Harris then left WCPO and joined WEWS News where she is currently working. During her spare time, she volunteers for the S.H.I.N.E organization formed to assist women who may have lost their will to continue living their normal lives.
