Sage Marie Steele is a well-known American television anchor who is the co-host of ESPN’s SportsCenter (12 PM ET) with Matt Barrie. Moreover, she is one of ESPN’s most popular and respected anchors and has garnered immense fame through her outstanding presentation skills. Marie has also worked for several sports channels such as WISH-TV, ABC WFTS, NBA, and Fox Sports. Sage was born and brought up in Panama Canal Zone, where she attended school at Thomas B. Doherty High School in Colorado Springs for two years. After college, she was hired as a news producer and reporter at WSBT-TV, the CBS affiliate in South Bend, Indiana.
There she worked for two years before she moved and joined WISH-TV in Indianapolis, Indiana, as the weekend morning sports anchor and weekday reporter. Moreover, her reporting duties included the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, and local college and high school sports. From 1998 to 2001, Steele worked at ABC affiliate WFTS in Tampa, Florida as a sports reporter alongside former WFTS sports director Jay Crawford. In addition to that, she also worked at Fox Sports Florida as a reporter and covered Super Bowl XXXV for the 2000-01 NFL season.
Before joining CSN, Saga worked as an anchor and reporter for the network’s nightly local sports news program, SportsNite. There at Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic in Bethesda, Maryland, Steele also covered all sports events in the Washington, DC, and Baltimore region. During her six years at CSN Mid-Atlantic, she was a main anchor and also the beat reporter for the Baltimore Ravens. In 2007, she joined ESPN as the ET edition of SportsCenter at 6:00 pm ET. In addition to SportsCenter, she served at First Take and Mike & Mike and has been a guest co-host of ESPN2’s SportsNation.
Steele also hosted ABC and ESPN’S New Year’s Rockin’ Eve during the inaugural College Football Playoff. From 2010 to 2013, she hosted the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Furthermore, Saga has also co-hosted the beauty pageant Miss America 2017 & 2018 on ABC alongside Chris Harrison. Most recently, Steele moved from the 6 PM edition to the noon edition of SportsCenter, where she now co-hosts alongside Matt Barrie. Moreover, she is on the board of the Pat Tillman Foundation.
