Alan Autry Biography
Alan Autry is an American politician, actor, and former National Football League football player. He gained popularity for his role as Captain “Bubba” Skinner on the NBC television series In the Heat of the Night, starring Carrol O’Connor, and other films.
Autry was at Riverdale High School, where he was a star quarterback for the Riverdale Cowboys. He also received an athletic scholarship to the University of the Pacific. Alan was a second-string tight end in his senior year for the Tigers.
He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 1975 where he ended up the following year. Alan was the starting quarterback for three games. In 1979, Alan made a football comeback attempt. He played for the B.C. Lions of the CFL, as Carlos Brown. However, Alan’s football career was cut short by the then-coach, Bart Starr. He then decided to move to Hollywood to become an actor.
Moreover, his film debut was in the 1978 movie, Remember My Name. Since then, he has been in numerous movies and other television shows. However, he returned home and left his career after nine years in Hollywood. In 1997, he launched his own production company, Dirt Road Productions. He released The Legend of Jake Kincaid in 2002. Besides his movie career, he is also a musician.
