Kristin Pierce is an American journalist who is currently working as a Reporter and Anchor at WHAS11 in Louisville, KY, specializing in general assignment reporting. In addition, she anchors at WHAS11 on weekdays from 4:30-7:00 am.
Kristin comes to WHAS11 from WWL-TV in New Orlean, Louisiana. While at WWL-TV, she worked as the weekend evening anchor and reporter. In this role, she was able to cover breaking news, server storms, and stories that impacted daily life. She was the first to report on a scandal involving a utility company paying actors to attend city council meetings and speak in favor of a $210 million gas plant. In addition, this story lead to that utility being fined $5 Million. She also has a vested interest in where she works. In New Orleans, Kristin created a segment called Neighbourhood Heroes which highlighted ordinary people doing extraordinary things in their communities.
Before working in Crescent City, she worked as a reporter at WXYZ/WMYD in Detroit, Michigan which is her hometown. While there, she covered several national news stories including the corruption trial of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, the Renisha McBride murder case, and the Flint water crisis.
Before venturing in front of the camera, she spent some time behind the scenes where at the time, she worked as an associate producer for WDIV in Detroit and WTVG in Toledo, Ohio. In relation to her education, she graduated cum laude from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and a minor in Sociology.
Kristin is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. When off her duties, she loves spending time with family, reading, or volunteering in the community.
