Alan Rose Biography
Alan Rose is an award-winning American meteorologist who can be seen on News5 on weekends and reporting on weather stories that matter to you during the week. Rose joined the weather team in the fall of 2019, and despite his brief stay in Southern Colorado, he says he’s already learned a lot about Colorado’s wild and extreme weather.
In November of 2019, while reporting live from Monument, he had one of his most unforgettable moments. As Alan provided viewers with constant updates regarding shifting traffic and weather conditions, more than a foot of snow fell in single-digit temperatures.
In addition, during severe weather season, another significant day occurred when a strong line of thunderstorms, known as a derecho, slammed into Colorado with devastating wind gusts and massive hail.
Rose spent more than 14 years as the chief meteorologist at KEYT and KKFX in Santa Barbara before joining News5. He covered numerous natural disasters in California, including blazing wildfires, fatal mudslides, and huge Pacific storms.

Alan received the Golden Mike Award for Best TV Weather Segment from the Radio & TV News Association of Southern California in 2015. Rose also worked as a meteorologist at WCBI in Columbus, Mississippi, before coming to Santa Barbara.
Alan was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and enrolled at the University of Alabama for his education. While competing as a springboard and platform diver, he earned a degree in communications.
