Alana Brophy is a well-known American chief meteorologist and has been working at ABC 4 Utah Pinpoint Weather team since December 2014. She serves as a reporter and weekend forecaster on the station’s weather team. Previously, she spent time forecasting, reporting, and anchoring in Boise, Idaho. Luckily, she took home a regional Emmy for her fieldwork in anchoring a morning newscast after spending two years at KBOI Weather Station.

Alana’s passion for seasons and climate led her to enroll at Mississippi State University, where she pursued atmospheric sciences and meteorology. While still at school, Brophy had the chance to report on Utah’s most important weather stories, such as Utah’s deadliest flooding disaster in Hildale, flash flooding at Zion National Park, low water levels at Lake Powell and the Great Salt Lake, the Brianheadwildfire, and an abundance of winter storms.

Furthermore, Alana began her career as a weekend forecaster in St. George, Utah. She forecasted along the red rocks since she had fallen in love with the southern portion of their state. While she was in the desert, Brophy covered Washington County’s extreme heat and headed up a crime series, The Tri-State Crime Stoppers. Luckily, this made her earn a Community Partnership Award from the Washington City Police.

Alan went to Judge Memorial Catholic High School. She later joined Gonzaga University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast and Electronic Media and Journalism. In her free time, she enjoys skiing and fly fishing, spending time with family, supporting Special Olympics, cheering for Gonzaga basketball and Chicago Blackhawks hockey, and walking with her two dogs, Teddy and Radar.
