Alex Finnie is an American journalist who is currently working as a full-time co-anchor for Channel 10 News, WPLG, and weekend evening newscasts in Miami, Florida. Prior to joining WPLG the station in 2018, she worked as a weekend anchor and reporter at CBS 42 News in Birmingham, Alabama.
Finnie attended Cushman School and New World School of the Arts for his high school education. After graduating from high school, she attended St. John’s University in New York City, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in television and film production.
Finnie serves as a news anchor and reporter at WPLG Local 10 News in Miami, Florida. She joined WPLG station in May 2018 from CBS 42 News in Birmingham, Alabama where she worked as a weekend anchor and reporter for 3 years.
At WPLG, Alex has had the chance to cover a wide range of stories. In addition to her daily news in the fast-paced market of South Florida, she has also traveled outside her broadcast region to cover big stories.
Finnie covered Hurricane Michael in the Florida Panhandle in October 2018, reporting before and aftermath. Local 10 was the principal South Florida station to send a group to cover the disastrous Category 5 tempest that desolated enormous bits of the Florida Panhandle.
