Jamie Owen Biography
Jamie Owen is a renowned Welsh journalist, broadcaster, and author. Currently, he works as a host for the Sunday program on BBC Radio Wales. Previously, Owen served as a presenter for BBC Wales Today, CGTN, and TRT World. Moreover, he was born and raised in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, and attended school at Pennar High School. Later, he enrolled at Pembroke Dock; Christ College, Brecon before joining Cardiff University.
Shortly after University, Owen was hired at BBS Radio 3 as a newsreader and anchor. Later, he moved and joined BBS Radio 4 and while there he was in charge of delivering the Shipping Forecast. In the 1990s, He worked as an anchor for BBC One & BBC Two Wales. After three years, Jamie shifted and worked as the main presenter on BBC Wales’ flagship news program, BBC Wales Today since then. Aside from that, he has also worked as a presenter for various channels such as BBC Breakfast News, BBC Radio 4’s Shipping Forecast, and Songs of Praise.
In 2018, he joined the international broadcaster TRT World and worked as a new presenter. A year later, he left the station and joined CGTN Network as an anchor. The channel broadcasts to 100 million homes worldwide and has bureaus in London, Washington, and Beijing. Moreover, he has been working for BBC Network for over 28 years.
As an author, Jamie has only published six books such as “Magic Harbours”, “Welsh Journeys”, A Year in Pembrokeshire”, and “Magic Islands” among others. In 2022, he won the first prize at the 2022 CMG Annual Awards held on the 23rd of April 2023, in the documentary category.
