Amy Freeze Biography
Amy Freeze is a renowned American television meteorologist and television host famous as the weekend meteorologist at WABC-TV based in New York City. She also features in the show “Good Morning America”. Freeze first rose to fame back in 2007 when she became the first female Chief Meteorologist in Chicago, Illinois, for WFLD, a station owned by Fox.
Amy attended Jeffersonville High School in Jeffersonville, Indiana, where she graduated in 1992. She later joined Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications in 1995.
Moreover, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geosciences from Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi. For her master’s degree, Amy attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Her first job was in Portland, Oregon at KPTV, hosting Good Day Oregon. She later moved to Denver, Colorado, working for both KWGN and MKGH. After her skills and experienced had grown, Amy relocated to a more popular station, WCAU in Philadelphia, an NBC affiliate.
At WCAU, she worked as a meteorologist and would also co-host the show, “10!”, a show that aired on NBC10. In addition to her work in WCAU and NBC10, Amy was also stationed at the Rockefeller Center in New York City, filling in for “Weekend Today” on MSNBC.
Amy first rose to fame in 2007 after she became the first female Chief Meteorologist in Chicago, Illinois for WFLD. In the following years, she became prominent, creating her own weather segments on the network. She further visited over 10,000 area students every year, making weather presentations on tornadoes and other severe weather events.
Freeze remained in the station until 2011 when she left to join WABC-TV, in New York City. At WABC-TV, she works as the weekend morning weathercaster.
