Anika Noni Rose is an American actress and singer who rose to fame for voicing Disney’s first-ever African-American princess in its 2009 animated film The Princess and the Frog. Her role in the film earned her the title of Disney’s Legend back in 2011. Noni also gained more fame for playing other roles like Lorrell Robinson in the Academy Award-winning film Dream Girls alongside Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson back in 2006. Anika is also recognized for her Broadway roles and performances in Caroline or Change (2004) and A Raisin in the Son (2014) where she played the younger version of Bebeatha Younger.
Noni Rose was born and raised in Bloomfield, Connecticut. She grew up as the daughter of a corporate counsel and a homemaker. Anka finished her high school studies at Bloomfield High School where she played a minor role in a school production during her freshman year in high school. Noni then enrolled at Florida A&M University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre production.
