Bianca Walkden Biography
Bianca Cook also better known as Bianca Walkden is a British taekwondo athlete and Olympian. She is best known for being the first GB Taekwondo athlete to win the World Championships crown for the third time. In addition, Cook is also the winner of the four-time European champion and a double Olympic medallist. Recently, she won the gold medal in the women’s +73 kg that took part in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Bianca started her professional career at the age of 11 when she attended a local club with her best friend. Afterward, she won her first bronze medal at the Junior European Championships at the age of 15 years. Afterward, she received a silver at the Junior World Championships before later qualifying for the Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro. In addition to this, Walkden also won the gold medal in the +73kg category at the 2015 World Taekwondo Championships in Russia. After that, she become the only second Briton to win a world title after Sarah Stevenson did so in 2001 and 2011.
In 2017 she became the first practitioner ever to win all 4 Grand Prix events in her division in a single season. Following her success, she went on to compete in the 2017 Muju WTF World Taekwondo Championship and emerged as the winner. She also defeated American Jackie Galloway in the heavyweight division before later joining Jade Jones as the only British practitioner.
Furthermore, she also won the women’s heavyweight title after Zheng Shuyin was disqualified. Afterward, she was defeated by Zheng Shuyin at Sofia with 3- 2 points. As of 2021, she emerged as the winner of the gold medal in the women’s +73 kg that took part in Sofia, Bulgaria at European Taekwondo Championships.
