Bill Bellis Biography
Bill Bellis is a three-time Emmy-Award-winning meteorologist currently the chief meteorologist at Fox 32 News. Before joining Fox 32, Bellis worked as chief meteorologist at KNXV-TV in Phoenix for eight years. He also worked at KPRC-TV in Houston, as the weekend meteorologist for four years. In addition, he began his career as a meteorologist for KLFY-TV in Lafayette, La.
For his education, Bellis went to the University of Arizona where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Science and Atmospheric Science with minors in maths, hydrology, and physics. His interest in weather developed after his first ski trip to Stratton Mountain, VT. He often watched The Weather Channel observing the snowstorms in order to arrange his ski trips.
Bill grew up in Long Island, NY, and went to Lycoming College, Pennsylvania for two years, where he played Division III football. Before transferring to the University of Arizona, Bellis was a mechanical major. While working for KNXV, he covered Hurricane Isabel, which led to landfall just north of Virginia Beach. Moreover, he covered the aftermath of Katrina in Slidell, L.a for 3 days.
In addition, Bellis is a three-time Emmy Award winner. During his free time, he loves visiting schools and teaching children about the weather. He likes to work out as well and he is also an avid skier.
