Blake McCoy is a renowned American journalist currently working as a news anchor based in Washington, D.C., and reporting for WTTG, Fox 5. McCoy anchors Fox 5‘s evening newscasts aired at 4 pm, 6:30 pm, and 11 pm.
Blake became an internet sensation in February 2021 after he tweeted a controversial tweet about the COVID-19 vaccine criteria. This was after getting no satisfaction with the vaccine criteria that prioritized obese people instead of essential workers. However, the controversy did not favor him and instead led to his suspension from Fox 5 News.
Blake is an American citizen, born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He later attended his junior and high school in Chicago before moving to Washington, D.C. for his college education.
Later on, McCoy joined George Washington University to pursue a double major in journalism and political science. Prior to joining the university, Blake spent a semester abroad in 2006 at the University of Manchester to study European Politics.
He then joined the United States House of Representatives in 2014 as a legislative intern. Immediately after his graduation, McCoy joined KBOI-TV as a news anchor, where he served as the station’s morning news reporter for two years.

In September 2009, Blake moved to KTNV, based in Las Vegas, Nevada, to work as a weekend anchor. He reported weekend evening newscasts and three nights each week. Moreover, he was the primary fill-in anchor for the weekday morning and evening newscasts.
After spending three years at KTNV, Blake moved to KARE 11 in September 2012 to work as a weekend anchor. He also reported the news three days each week and served as the primary fill-in anchor for weekday newscasts. After three years, McCoy left the station for greener pastures.
In October 2015, Blake joined NBC News as a correspondent, reporting for TODAY, Nightly News, and MSNBC. Unfortunately, his time at the station was limited to three years and six months. He then joined WYYG, Fox 5 News in Washington, D.C. in March 2019 as an evening newscast anchor. He held this position until his suspension in February 2021.
