Bob Mackie is an American costume designer and fashion designer. He is best known for his makeup for entertainment icons including Ann-Margaret, Carol Channing, RuPaul, Cher, Alison Scoffins, Barbara, Eden, Diana Ross, and Vanna White.
Additionally, she is a three-time Emmy Award winner and has been inducted into the Hollywood Fashion Walk of Fame. He is a lowly designer for Paramount Studios, making costumes for the burlesque production Hallelujah Hollywood when he was spotted by the customer Edith Head.
Moreover, he has made elegant and sparkling dresses that have been worn by famous entertainers like Diana Ross and Tina Turner. For his entire 11-year run, he has been the sole costume designer for The Carol Burnell Show.
In 1986, Bob designed Cher’s outfit for the Academy Award which was stretch pants, a jewel-encrusted loincloth, and a chain-link top, topped off by an Indian headdress. His career as a fashion designer in the United States has helped him to earn most of his wealth.
Additionally, he attended Rosemead High School where he graduated in 1957. Later, he attended Pasadena City College and Chouinard Art Institution where he left before attaining any degree. He studied under Eva Roberts who is in the fashion design department. He later left school so that he could begin his work as a sketch artist for Frank Thompson at Paramount Studios.
