Bruce Rockowitz is a Canadian businessman and former professional tennis player who rose to fame as the husband of Hong Kong-born American singer Coco Lee who passed away on July 5, 2023, at Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong China. Coco had a history of depression and she committed suicide and died at the age of 48. Bruce and Coco had been married for ten years during the time of her death. Bruce is now the chairman and CEO of Rock Media International and co-founded another company called the Pure Group.
Rockowitz was born in Toronto Canada but he grew up in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. He grew up as a very intelligent and focused young boy who loved playing tennis and other sports. Bruce finished his high school education in a public school based in his hometown. He then enrolled at the University of Vermont to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration but he dropped out to play professional tennis in Hong Kong in 1979. He even became the head tennis coach at the Hong Kong Country Club and started training Li & Fung who was the immediate chairman of the country club.
Rockowitz began her career as a professional tennis player who was then hired by a Canadian ex-Pat named Allan Xeman after meeting at an ice cream parlor in Hong Kong. The two grew closer and Alann assisted Bruce in launching the Colby International firm back in 1981. In 1986, Bruce became the CEO of Colby International until 2000.
Victor Fung and Li & Fung decided to acquire the business for $2.2 billion with Bruce as the acting CEO from 2011 to 2014. This is the time CoCo Lee’s husband received his Billionaire title. In 2014, He left Colby and became the Vice chairman of Glbal Brands Group which was a branch of Li & Fung majoring in the manufacture of accessories for brands like Calvin, Kate Spade, Coach, and Tommy Hilfiger.
