Cameron Cox Biography
Cameron Cox is an Emmy award-winning sports anchor and reporter currently working for 12 News. Cox also hosts Friday Night Fever and 12 Sports Tonight, as well as contributes to Cardinals Locker Room. He joined12 the News team in November 2014.
Cameron attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico, where he was a student-athlete (football). He learned to use his own experience in sports to enhance his journalism. Cameron is also a proud graduate of Atascocita High School in Humble.
He began his broadcasting career as the weekend sports anchor at KNOE-Tv in Monroe, Louisiana, covering Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Monroe, Grambling, LSU, and the Saints.
Cameron came to the Valley from WOAI-TV in San Antonio, Texas, where he spent two years as a sports reporter and anchor. In San Antonio, Cox covered two NBA Finals, Spurs’ championship parade, NBA All-Star game, College Football (Longhorns, Aggies, UTSA), Texans and Cowboys games, NFL playoffs, Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremony, High School sports, MLB, and the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
While majoring in Broadcasting Journalism, he worked full-time for KENW and KSEL as their lead sports anchor and play-by-play broadcaster. Moreover, Cameron hosted Portales’ first sports talk radio show “Game On!”, and was the voice of the Portales Rams.
When he is not working, Cox enjoys working out, anything outdoors, reading history books, trying to improve his golf game, collecting movies, spend time with his family and watch sports (shocking).
