Jim Nantz Biography
Jim Nantz is an American television personality, sportscaster author, and actor. He is best known for serving in the broadcasts of the National Football Class (NFL), National University Athletic Affiliation (NCAA) Division I men’s b-ball, and PGA Visit for CBS Sports. He is also known as the commentator on CBS’s top play-by-play group from 2004. Nantz has also anchored CBS’ coverage of the Masters Tournament since 1989.
Nantz went to school at Marlboro High School and was co-captain of the basketball team and co-captain. He was also the number one player on the golf team. He also studied at the University of Houston and majored in broadcasting. In addition, he played on the Houston Cougars men’s golf team where he interacted with future professional golfers such as Fred Couples and Blaine McCallister.
Nantz began serving as an anchor and sportscaster for Khou Houston. Afterward, he worked as a weekend sports anchor on KSL-TV in Salt Lake City before going to work at CBS. Additionally, Nantz started working with the CBS network as a studio host for college football and basketball coverage in 1985. Moreover, he has anchored CBS coverage of the master tournament from 1989.
Additionally, Nantz has received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Sports Personality. He has also won the Ambassador Award of Excellence by LA Sports and was honored with NSSA’s National Sportscaster award. Nantz has made a guest appearance on several TV series. Moreover, his first book ‘Always By My Side-A Father’s Grace and a Sports Journey Unlike Any Other’ was published in May 2008.
