Carmen Rita Wong is an American television, radio, and online journalist. She is also a personal finance expert at CNBC where she was the former host of the 2005 version of On The Money, a personal finance program. Rita was a contributor to The Dr. Oz Show and iVillage. Furthermore, she writes a blog for CNBC.com that focuses on taking control of your personal finances.
Wong was named host of the weekly radio program Marketplace Money in October 2013, produced by American Public Media. Unfortunately, when she was giving financial advice on the Marketplace Moneyprogram on October 26, 2013, she was exposed that she was a divorcee and single mother.
From February 2014, Marketplaces’ website refers to her as a “Former Hist”. Carmen’s blog made its debut on Qvisory.com and her advice appears monthly in Glamour, Men Health Online, and Latina. Additionally, she makes contributions to Essence and Diversity Women magazines. Rita has been making her name as a money expert making appearances on CNN, The Racheal Ray Show, and Oprah Winfrey’s XM radio network.
In January 2009, Carmen was named one of the 25 Hottest Women of Business by Business Pundit. In that same year March, her accomplishments were honored at the eighth annual New York City Women’s History Month Celebration.
Rather than Rita being a journalist, she is also an author. Her first book was “Generation Debt”: Take Control of Your Money- A How-to Guide published by Grand Central Publishing in 2006. Fortunately, the book has appeared on the recommended reading list of The Wall Street Journal and her advice has been highlighted in The Washington Post. The Real Cost of Living: Making the Best Decisions for You, Your Life, and Your Money published by Perigee in December 2010 was Wong’s second book.
