Cherish Lombard Biography
Cherish Lombard is an American journalist who is currently working as an anchor at WKRG where she airs the station’s 6:30 and at 9:00 pm newscasts. Lombard grew up in Mobile and graduated from Murphy High School. In addition, she attended and graduated from the University of South Alabama. While at the university, she started working at WABB FM in 2001, and within a short period, she climbed ranks and became the first female Morning Drive co-host.
She caught the attention of News Directors and started delivering traffic reports for the station. Having been hired as a General Assignment Reporter in 2008, she was promoted in 2010. She was promoted to the role of the first host of the stations’ new lifestyle and entertainment show Studio 10.
In 2014, she took a chance and left home for an anchor position in Nashville, Tennessee. While there, she was part of the city’s biggest breaking news stories. This included the Waffle House shooter and many others.
Furthermore, she led the WKRN team focused on the growing Nashville Skyline. She also fields anchored during the Nashville Predators’ Road to the Stanley Cup. Additionally, she hosted the CMA Awards after-party live for the past two years. She interviewed some of the biggest names in the Country Music industry.
Lombard says that the Gulf Coast is her home. In addition, she says being back home in the community where she grew up is an opportunity she couldn’t pass up. She adds that it is an opportunity she wouldn’t trade for anything.
