Cydney Long Biography
Cydney Long is an American journalist at NBC10 News. Currently, she works as a reporter for WCAU-TV in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the United States of America. She joined the NBC10 team back in March of 2011.
Before joining NBC10, Long worked with KYW as a New Jersey-based correspondent and general assignment reporter from 2001 to 2011. In addition, she covered southern New Jersey and co-anchored weekday, and weekend morning newscasts from 2004 to 2006. Similarly, she also served as a fill-in anchor on a regular basis.
Moreover, Cydney is an award-winning journalist dedicated to serving her community. In 2003, she received a Mid-Atlantic Emmy for her breaking news coverage of the fatal Atlantic City Tropicana Casino garage collapse. Additionally, she was also recognized by the Mercer County prosecutor for exposing a grocery store surveillance video of a missing woman with her alleged killer prior to police and prosecutor.
Long made her debut in her journalism career in 1994 at WTSP in Tampa, Florida, where she produced the weekend evening news until 1997. She then transitioned to reporting with Bay News 9 in Tampa, and also the Time-Warner-owned Central Florida News 13 of Orlando. She reported and anchored the news and covered several hurricanes along both Florida coasts.
From 1999 – 2001, Long worked as an investigative reporter at K-EYE based in Austin, Texas. While there, she investigated the notorious Austin cold case, ‘the yogurt shop murders, and reported on the Texas A&M University fatal bonfire collapse, among other major stories.
Cydney graduated from the University of South Florida where she received a B.A. in mass communications. In her leisure time, she enjoys summers at the shore and spending good time with her husband and two children on their blueberry farm in South Jersey.
