Rachel Briers Biography
Rachel Briers is a renowned American meteorologist currently working at ABC13 in Houston, Texas since joining the station in December 2018. Before joining ABC13, she was the Chief Meteorologist at KWES in Midland, Texas. While there, she covered all of the West Texas weather, including large hail, tornadoes, and severe winter storms.
She discovered her passion for weather at a very young age. Her grandparents were farmers great farmers and weather was an everyday topic at the dinner table. She followed her parent’s footsteps and joined Texas A&M University where she received a degree in Atmospheric Sciences, as well she met her future husband at the University. While at college, Rachel interned at WFAA in Dallas and KBTX in College Station.
Rachel headed out to West Texas immediately after college to begin her career in meteorology in Lubbock. While there, she worked at KLBK in Lubbock as the weekday evening Meteorologist & co-host of Trends & Friends.
In addition, she is an active member of the American Meteorological Society and she likes giving educational weather talks to schools and the community.
