Dana Jacobson Biography

Dana Jacobson is an American journalist who works for CBS News as a host and correspondent. She is presently a co-host on CBS Saturday Morning. Jacobson also works for CBS Sports and CBS SportsNetwork as an anchor and reporter. She joined CBS News in 2015, after working at CBS SportsNetwork for two years.

Prior to that, Jacobson worked for ESPN for a decade, from 2002 to 2012. She joined Cold Pizza as a co-host in March 2005 and moved with the show as it became ESPN First Take. She departed First Take on December 30, 2011, and returned to SportsCenter as an anchor. Dana announced her departure from ESPN on March 27, 2012, after her contract with the company expired at the end of April.

Her final day at ESPN was Monday, April 30, 2012, when she anchored the 6–8 p.m. ET SportsCenter. In 2000, Dana received an Edward R. Murrow Award and in 1998 she was awarded National Headliner Award.

On July 13, 2018, Dana and long-time CBS correspondent Michelle Miller were named as the new co-hosts of CBS This Morning’s Saturday edition. Dana received her Bachelor’s degree in Arts in English and Communications from the University of Michigan in 1993 and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Dana’s first television job was at WPBN/WTOM-TV in Traverse City, Michigan, where she worked for two years as a weekend sports anchor, producer, and editor. She also covered a variety of Northern California topics, including profiles of former Sacramento Kings players Mike Bibby, Chris Webber, and Jason Williams.

Jacobson as a weekend sports anchor at KXTV-TV, ABC’s Sacramento affiliate station, covered a wide range of professional sports, including the NFL and NBA (1998-2002). Dana also presented KXTV’s News10 Red Zone. Jacobson worked as a sports reporter for KXTV’s Monday Night Football broadcast from 1996 until 1998.

Jacobson also hosted The NBA Insiders, a weekly two-hour radio show for KHTK-AM from 2000 to 2002. During the 2005 holiday season, she also filled in for Dan Patrick on his ESPN Radio show, which aired daily from 1 pm to 4 pm Eastern time.

Similarly, Dana stood in for Mike Golic on the ESPN Radio show Mike and Mike in the Morning on occasion. Jacobson is currently employed with CBS Sports and CBS Sports Network. She’s a contributor on NFL Today and the host of CBS’s We Need To Talk. In addition, she was named to the Michigan Jewish Sports Foundation’s Hall of Fame inductees in October 2018.
