Dasha Zhukova is a Russian-American art collector, businesswoman, magazine editor, as well as a socialite. She is the founder of the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art and Garage Magazine.
Zhukova attended a Jewish day school in California and later joined a Hebrew college, which was her first school in the U.S. She attended it for a period of three years. In 1999, she attended Pacific Hills School. In addition, she graduated with honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a degree in Slavic studies and literature. After she involved herself with Roman Abramovich, she returned to Moscow and later moved to London, where she enrolled at the London College of Naturopathic Medicine but didn’t exhaust the program.
In 2006, Dasha co-founded the fashion label Kova & T where she currently sits on the boards for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and The Shed. Later on, in 2008, she co-founded the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture in Moscow, a non-profit organization aiding the advancement of contemporary art and culture in Russia and abroad.
In February 2009, Dasha was luckily chosen as the editor-in-chief of the fashion magazine Pop. However, in 2010, she resigned from the position after three incidents. As the editor of chief of Garage magazine, a biannual print publication that focuses on the collaboration among contemporary art and fashion. Since then she has worked with the world’s most celebrated creators such as Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Nick Knight, Marc Jacobs, and Richard Prince among others. In addition, she is the founding member of the Culture Shed in New York.
