David Jeremiah Biography
Bishop David Jeremiah is a senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church and the founder and host of Turning Point for God. The turning point is a Radio and Television evangelism ministry founded by David. Shadow Mountain Community is a Southern Baptist megachurch in El Cajon, California, a suburb of San Diego.
David was born to his father James T. Jeremiah, a Baptist pastor and former president of Cedarville University. He then joined Cedarville University in 1963 to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree and later in 1967 went to Dallas Theological Seminary to pursue a master’s degree. In 1981, Cedarville University presented him with an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree.
David became a senior pastor of Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne Indiana in 1969 where he served for 12 years before relocating to California in 1981. Upon his relocation, David succeeded Tim LaHaye as a senior pastor for the Shadow Mountain Community Church. His leadership has steered it to the point of affiliation with the Southern Baptist Convention.
Moreover, in 1982, Jeremiah founded Turning Point Ministries which focuses on multimedia Bible broadcasts. Its debut program is Turning Point, a half-hour radio program that broadcasts Jeremiah’s sermons. David has since won several awards over the years through the Turning Point program.

These awards include the 2006 National Religious Broadcasters Award for the Best Radio Teaching Program. In 2000, Turning Point Ministries also developed a national television program. This program features a 30-minute Bible study followed by an hour of preaching and worship music.
As of today, Turning Point can be heard broadcasting on more than 2,000 stations. His radio program is available to over 480 million listeners in numerous countries across the world. On the other hand, Turning Point television reaches over 2.7 billion households worldwide.
Turning Point has now unveiled a Spanish language edition, Momento Decisivo, which is now available in every country that has a Spanish-speaking population.
