Devyn Nekoda Biography
Devyn Nekoda is a Canadian actress and dancer. She has gained fame for portraying Vanessa Morita in the Canadian Disney show ‘Backstage’.Nekoda has also been featured in films such as Sneakerella ( 2021), Ginny & Georgia (2021), and Scream VI( 2023). Born and raised in Brantford, Ontario, Canada.
Nekoda started dancing at the young age of two years old even before she could speak well. After showing interest in dancing, her parent decided to send her to Lisa Naves Dance Company, where she learned all types of dancing including ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, tap, acrobatics, and hip-hop. Later on, Devyn attended the Toronto School of Circus Acts. Moreover, she has performed with famous stars like alumni Edyta Sliwinska in a production of ‘Dance Star’ at the Avalon Theater.
Devyn has also traveled with Tree House’s- Roll Playgroup and even appeared in a music video for Walk off the Earth’s 2013 song ‘Speeches’. She made her first television appearance in a short role in the musical drama called American Girl playing the role of Luisa in 2014. After that, she was seen in others series like Max and Shred. In addition to that, Nekoda also appeared in a popular Canadian mockumentary TV show ‘The Next Step’. In the series, she first portrayed the role of J-Troupe dancers in two seasons before reprising her role in three seasons.

Furthermore, she rose to fame after starring in a recurring role as Arlene Takahashi in the TV series “Degrassi: The Next Generation” from 2014 to 2015. In the next year, Nekoda appeared in a TV film called“The Swap” as Mackenzie Wick. Also, she made her first leading role in a Disney series titled Backstage. Other than that, Devyn has also been featured in films like ‘Mishka’Ghostwriter, Raising Hopes, Utopia Falls, and the Netflix drama series ‘Northern Rescue’.
For her performance, she has obtained multiple accolades including the Miss Mini Terpsichore National Competition and Miss Mini Dancefest. Devyn was also awarded the Triple Threat Convention Intermediate Threat accolade. Moreover, she came fourth in the American Dance Awards National Competition and second in the Dance Canada National Competition. Most recently, Nekoda was cast in films such as Sneakerella( 2021), Ginny & Georgia (2021), and Grand Army (2020). As of 2023, she appears in the film called Scream VI playing the role of Anika Kayoko, a student at Blackmore University and Mindy Meeks-Martin’s girlfriend.
