Elle Reeve is an American journalist currently working as a correspondent for CNN. She is best known for her award-winning coverage of 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia for her former employer, HBO’s Vice News Tonight.
Reeve graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism in 2005 with a Bachelor of Journalism degree. She has been awarded a Peabody Award in 2017. In 2018, she was included in the list of “most creative people in business” by Fast news.
Elle worked as a political editor at The Wire in the 2000s and later that decade joined The New Republic, before being released by her then-editor, Franklin Foer, for her involvement in the Scott Thomas Beauchamp controversy.
She became nationally famous after covering the August 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia for Vice News Tonight. During that period, she interviewed neo-Nazi Christopher Cantwell and other demonstrating white supremacists, capturing them while carrying tiki torches while chanting “Jews will not replace us!” Her report, ‘Charlottesville: Race and Terror’, earned her and Vice News Tonight a Peabody Award, four Emmy Awards, and a George Polk Award.
