Erika Cosby is an American contemporary painter and a supplement art professor at New York University. She is also a celebrity kid well known for being the daughter of Camille Olivia Cosby a TV producer, philanthropist, and stand-up comedian Bill Cosby alias William Henry Cosby Jr.
The celebrity kid attended Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in the year 1987. Afterward, she attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1989. Nevertheless, Erika also went to the University of California, Berkeley graduating with a Master of Fine Arts in 1991. Additionally, the painter also pursued a nine-week summer residency course at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine.
From 2009 to 2010, she worked as an artist at the Abrons Arts Center and received a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Painting. Nevertheless, she was awarded a studio grant from The Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation. She was included in Jayson Musson and Marilyn Minter’s group show at New York’s Family Business, Small World. In 2014, her work titled Hanging Out To Dry was displayed at the 50th anniversary of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art.
She was also the curator of a pop-up group art show in artist Jennifer Coates’s Brooklyn studio called Eye Contact in July 2015. Her works have been featured in galleries like SALTWORKS Contemporary Art, the Arlington Arts Center in Virginia, Slate Gallery, Artspace in New Haven, Allegra LaViola Gallery, and The Last Brucennial. Erika is also the benefactor of the summer institute for A Long Wak Home, an art-based sexual assault awareness program in Chicago, Illinois.
