Glenda Hatchett is an American star judge and the former “Judge Hatchett” on the court show. She is also an attorney. Recently, The Verdict with Judge Hatchett, founding partner at the national law firm, The Hatchett Firm, located in Atlanta, GA, recently aired.

Hatchett earned her B.A. in political science from Mount Holyoke College in 1973. Fortunately, at the same college, she was recognized as a distinguished alumnus and was awarded an honorary degree in 2000. Hatchett then joined Emory University School of Law and received her Juris Doctor degree in the year 1977.

In March 2017, Charles filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against the medical center, claiming that the staff didn’t respond to Kyira’s bleeding in a timely manner.

After Glenda graduated from law school, she completed a coveted federal clerkship in the United States District Court in the Northern District of Georgia and then at Delta Air Lines. Luckily, at Delta, she became the airline’s highest-ranking woman of color worldwide, serving as a senior attorney as well as a public relations manager. As a senior, she litigated cases in federal courts. As a manager of public relations, she supervised global crisis management, and medical relations for all of Europe, Asia, and the United States. Ebony Magazine recognized Glenda as one of the “100 Best and Brightest Black Women in Corporate America” in January 1990. Glenda was awarded the Emory Medal, the highest award given to an alumna of Mount Holyoke College.

In 1990, Glenda left Delta Airlines for the purpose of becoming Chief Presiding Judge of the Fulton County, Georgia Juvenile Court. Moreover, she became the first African American Chief Presiding Judge of a state court and the department head of one of the largest juvenile court systems in the country.

Glenda left Fulton County in 2000. She began presiding over the nationally syndicated television show, Judge Hatchett, for eight seasons on Sony Pictures Television. The show is currently running in its sixth year of national syndication. The Best of Judge Hatchett show airs on the WeTV network. The show has been nominated for two daytime Emmy awards for Outstanding Legal/Courtroom in 2008 and 2009.

Additionally, in 2004, she authored Say What You Mean, Mean What You Say, a national bestseller, and in 2010, she released Dare to Take Charge: How to Live Your Life on Purpose, which was, fortunately, a #1 National Bestseller.

Previously, she served on the boards of directors of GAP, Inc., the Hospital Corporation of America, and the Service Master Company. From 2014 till today, she has been a board member of the Atlanta Falcons Football Organization. Glenda also serves on the Boys and Girls Clubs of America National Board of Governors.

Moreover, in 2014, she returned to her hometown. She launched The Hatchett Firm, p.c., a national law firm focusing on catastrophic personal injury, medical malpractice, and class action lawsuits. Despite Hatchett’s practicing law, she is a motivational speaker and speaks at conferences and events across the US. Moreover, in 2015, she delivered the Holmes Hunter Lecture at the University of Georgia. In the same year, in April, she announced that she had signed with a new court show, The Verdict, with Judge Hatchett, set to air in Fall 2016 under Entertainment Studios. Her law firm announced that they will be representing the family of Pholando Castile in all civil legal matters starting in July 2016.

In addition, Glenda has appeared on several media outlets as a guest commentator and legal analyst on national issues. She has appeared on CNN as a guest commentator an uncountable number of times.
