Jim Deshaies Biography
Jim Deshaies is an American journalist and former Major League Baseball (MLB) who played for six teams over the course of 12 big league seasons. Currently, he is a color commentator for broadcasts of Chicago Cubs games.
For his MLB debut, he played for the New York Yankees on August 7, 1984. He has also made some records in his career. On September 23, 1986, in a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, he set a Major League record by striking out the first eight batters of the game.
In 1992, he joined the San Diego Padres and later played for the Minnesota Twins, San Giants, and Philadelphia Phillies. On July 31, 1995, he retired following his release by the Phillies.

Deshaies was a commentator for Astro’s TV broadcasts from 1997 to 2012. He gained respect as an analyst and enjoyed very high popularity with Astros fans during his tenure. Later on, he moved to the Chicago Cub’s TV broadcast for the 2013 to 2016 seasons.
The Cubs announced extensions for both Deshaies and play-by-play man Len Kasper through 2019. This was from January 10, 2017. Currently, he working as a color commentator for the Chicago Cubs.
