Heather Hegedus Biography
Heather Hegedus is an Emmy-Award-winning American journalist who is currently working at FOX25 in Boston since January 2009. She anchors the stations 6, 10, and 11 p.m. newscasts on Saturday and Sunday editions of Boston 25 Morning News.
Since joining the station, she has covered and reported on some of the biggest news-making stories in Boston. She covered the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, the trial of organized crime boss Whitey Bulger, and the arrest and trial of Patriots player Aaron Hernandez.
She got her start in her career in WIVT in Binghamton, New York, where she served as the main weeknight anchor. While there, she anchored the 5, 6, and 11 pm weekday newscasts. In addition, she hosted live guests segments including live in-studio guest segments with animals from the Ross Park Zoo.
Heather also worked at NY1 News as a video journalist where she shot and reported on New York City’s five boroughs and also from Ground Zero on the first anniversary of 9/11. In addition, she worked at WFSB as an anchor and reporter.
Throughout her career, she received several awards including the 2011 Investigative Reporter of the Year award. She also received an Edward R. Murrow award for being part of breaking news coverage.
Heather is a Lynnfield High School and Georgetown University graduate where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Government. She also holds a master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
