Heidi Watney is a popular American sportscaster and TV Personality currently serving as a correspondent reporter for Apple TV+. Previously, she served as a host and sports anchor for the MLB Network, New England Sports in Boston and Time Warner in Los Angeles. Heidi has also appeared in a music video for a Dropkick Murphys record called Going Out in Style. She even worked as a weekend sports anchor for two other stations based in her hometown, Fresno.
Watney was born and raised in Fresno, California by a middle-class Native American family. She grew up a very active young girl who loved diving and participating in gymnastics. Heidi studied at the Clovis West High School located in her hometown. She was part of the high school cheerleading team and liked doing other activities like diving and hurdles. Heidi graduated from the University of San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She was able to finish her college studies through an academic scholarship under the National Merit Scholar. Witney even competed in the Miss California beauty pageant and bagged the first run-up position in 2002.
Heidi began her career as a sportscaster officially in early September 2003 as the morning traffic reporter for KMPH News based in Fresno. In 2008, Heidi left KMPH news and moved to Massachusetts where she served as the gameday reporter for the Boston Red Sox under the New England Sports Network (NESPN).
She also hosted the Ultimate Red Sox show and Red Sox Report. In 2012, Watney left NESPN and began working as a reporter for the Time Warner Cable Sports Net and LA Galaxy. Heidi spent almost five years at LA Galaxy before joining the news team at MLB Network in 2021. She spent nine years at MLB while balancing her work as a host on Quick Pitch. Watney left MLB and Quick Pitch and joined Apple TV+ in 2022.
