Isabella Rubi Manfredi is an Australian songwriter and activist, and pop singer. She rose to fame for being a member team of the Australian rock indie-pop band, The Preatures. In 2013, Rubi together with her band won the Vanda & Young Songwriting competition. Moreover, she was born and brought up in Sydney, Australia.
Manfredi began her professional career as a musician in 2010 after she met Thomas Champion and Jack Moffitt and formed a band together. Later after, they added people like Luke Davison and Gideon Bensen and titled their band the Preachers. A year later they released the EP Shaking Hand and signed with Mercury Records. That same year, they changed their name to the Preatures to avoid legal complications with other bands. Additionally, the EP comprised a single called “Take a Card”, which was featuring Triple J Unearthed.
Aside from that, they also released their second extended play, called Is This How You Feel?, followed by two singles “Manic Baby”. “Is This How You Feel?” and, “Is This How You Feel?”. likewise, she also took part in a competition in which she emerged as a winner of the Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition. Also, Rubi won the prize of $ 50,000 and received an ARIA Award nomination for Best Pop Release.
In September 2014, they released the studio album Blue Planet Eyes, which reached No.4 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Besides that, they also earned an Award at the 2015 ARIA Music Awards. Later, the second studio album arrived called Girlhood which earned an ARIA Award nomination for Best Rock Album.
Furthermore, Manfredi is the seventh artist to take out the grant, following previous recipients such as Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Hatchie, and D.D. Dumbo.
