Jenn Schanz is an American journalist currently working as a weekend morning anchor and reporter at WXYZ-TV, 7Action News, since February 2019. Previously, she served as a reporter at WIVB/WNLO-TV from March 2015 to January 2019.
Schanz is originally from Grand Rapids, and she is thrilled to be working in her home state. She attended and graduated in 2012 from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
Jenn also worked at KLKN-TV in Lincoln, Nebraska as a reporter/ anchor from April 2013 to March 2015. She also worked at Dood Day DePaul. Jenn was also an intern at the Council on American Islamic Relations, serving as a communication intern. She covered stories such as the opioid crisis, medical marijuana, and clergy sex abuse.

She also received a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for her work on Inside The Epidemic, a news special chronicling Western New York’s ongoing struggle with opioid abuse. During her free time, she enjoys traveling, as she has visited six continents and lived in Korea for a short period after college. Jenn currently lives in Detroit and loves exploring new restaurants and different neighborhoods.
